Information about the Actuarial Congress 2024
This year the Actuarial Congress 2024 will again take place at the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT). The day consists of various lectures and interactive sessions presented by professionals in the actuarial field. The first part is the plenary sessions where speakers will give presentations about actuarial topics within the theme of our congress. The second part is the interactive sessions where presenters will encourage discussions among the participants. Since this is the largest student-organized conference in the field of actuarial science, it provides a unique mix of actuarial professionals as well as interested and proactive students.
Royal Tropical Institute (KIT)
The Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) is a Dutch multidisciplinary knowledge institute for international, economic and intercultural cooperation. They cooperate with governments, international businesses and multilateral organizations such as the UN, the EU and the World Bank.
KIT was founded in 1910 as a Colonial Institute, at the time entirely focused on Dutch overseas possessions, by private individuals, governments and companies. The Colonial Institute was a continuation of the Colonial Museum in Haarlem, which opened in 1864. The Royal Tropical Institute was built on the site of the former Oosterbegraafplaats based on the design of architect J.J. van Nieukerken (1854-1913) and completed in 1926 by M.A. van Nieukerken. In 2003 it was designated as a national monument.
KIT is active in more than sixty countries, with an emphasis on knowledge transfer, capacity building and stimulating collaboration. Part of this is the tropical medicine course or the Business Culture training. In the Netherlands, KIT works to raise awareness about sustainable development, poverty reduction and diversity. KIT fulfills a forum, meeting and training function and introduces people to cultures from all over the world, including through the Tropenmuseum and previously the Tropentheater.

Informatie omtrent het Actuariaatcongres 2024
Dit jaar vindt het Actuariaatcongres 2024 wederom plaats in het Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (KIT). Het congres bestaat uit gevarieerde lezingen door verschillende professionals en interactieve sessies omtrent een actueel thema binnen de actuariële wetenschappen. Het is opgedeeld in twee delen, een plenair gedeelte waarin verschillende professionals het woord zullen voeren in een plenaire sessie. Daarnaast zijn er de interactieve sessies waarbij met de deelnemers gediscussieerd wordt. Doordat dit congres het grootste door studenten georganiseerde congres op het gebied van actuariaat is, levert dit een unieke mix van enerzijds professionals uit het bedrijfsleven en anderzijds belangstellende studenten.
Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (KIT)
Het Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (KIT) is een Nederlands multidisciplinair kennisinstituut voor internationale, economische en interculturele samenwerking, waarbij de ontwikkeling van praktisch toepasbare kennis vooropstaat. Er wordt samengewerkt met overheden, het internationale bedrijfsleven en multilaterale organisaties zoals de VN, de EU en de Wereldbank.
Het KIT is in 1910 als ‘Koloniaal Instituut’, destijds geheel gericht op de Nederlandse overzeese bezittingen, opgericht door particulieren, overheden en bedrijven. Op zijn beurt was het Koloniaal Instituut een voortzetting van het Koloniaal Museum in Haarlem dat al in 1864 werd geopend. Het Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen is gebouwd op het terrein van de voormalige Oosterbegraafplaats naar het ontwerp van de architect J.J. van Nieukerken(1854-1913) en in 1926 voltooid door M.A. van Nieukerken. In 2003 werd het aangewezen als rijksmonument.
Het KIT is actief in meer dan zestig landen, waarbij het accent ligt op kennisoverdracht, capaciteitsopbouw en het stimuleren van samenwerking. Onderdeel hiervan is de cursus tropengeneeskunde of de Zaken Cultuur training. In Nederland werkt het KIT aan bewustwording over duurzame ontwikkeling, armoedebestrijding en diversiteit. Het KIT vervult daarbij een
forum-, ontmoetings- en traininingsfunctie en laat mensen, onder andere door middel van het Tropenmuseum en voorheen het Tropentheater, kennismaken met culturen uit de gehele wereld.
