Welcome to the website of the VSAE Actuarial Congress. Every spring a committee is formed which, coordinated by the VSAE (Association of Actuarial and Econometrics Students), takes on the task of organizing the next congress. This is done in close consultation and support of the Royal Actuarial Association.
The next Actuarial Congress will take place on Tuesday the 2nd of March 2027. Our goal is to host an engaging and informative conference firmly rooted in high-quality knowledge. As part of this effort, we also publish an annual magazine containing up-to-date articles related to the conference theme, most of which are written specifically for the event. This commitment to quality has translated into the achievement of 6 PE points and since last year also 6 CPD points.

Welkom op de website van het VSAE Actuariaatcongres. Ieder voorjaar wordt een commissie samengesteld die, gecoördineerd door de VSAE (Vereniging Studenten Actuariaat en Econometrie), de taak op zich neemt het volgende congres te organiseren. Dit wordt in nauw overleg en met ondersteuning van het Koninklijk Actuarieel Genootschap gedaan.
Het eerstvolgende Actuariaatcongres zal plaatsvinden op dinsdag 2 maart 2027. Er wordt naar gestreefd een interessant en progressief congres neer te zetten, dat tevens stevig gegrond is op basis van kennis die kwalitatief van zeer hoog niveau is. Als onderdeel van dit streven geeft het congres ook jaarlijks een magazine uit met actuele artikelen over het thema (waarvan het overgrote deel speciaal voor het congres geschreven wordt). Dit streven naar kwaliteit heeft zich vrijwel altijd vertaald naar het behalen van 6 PE-punten en sinds dit jaar ook 6 CPD punten.

Theme Actuarial Congress 2027: The shift of risk in the new pension system
The Dutch pension sector faces its biggest reform in decades, and at its core is a shift in who carries the risk. Since the Future Pensions Act (Wtp) came into force, every pension fund has been moving towards the new system, with a hard deadline of 1 January 2028. The 2027 congress takes place in the busiest phase of the transition: the year in which most funds convert their accrued entitlements and DNB reviews those decisions.
The transition involves major technical challenges that pension funds are still figuring out. Collective pension assets must be converted into individual pension capital, while funds need to show that this conversion is balanced across generations. At the same time, they have to compensate the groups that lose out when the average-premium system is scrapped, and decide how the solidarity reserve will work.
The congress brings together the people working on these challenges: academics, regulators, pension funds and advisers. We cover the full range of topics, from risk appetite and lifecycle investing to data, feasibility and member communication. For students, it is a unique opportunity to see how their future profession helps shape the pensions of millions of people.

De Nederlandse pensioensector staat voor de grootste hervorming in decennia, met als kern een verschuiving in wie het risico draagt. Sinds de Wet toekomst pensioenen (Wtp) in werking is getreden, bewegen alle pensioenfondsen richting het nieuwe stelsel, met als harde deadline 1 januari 2028. Het congres van 2027 vindt plaats in de drukste fase van deze transitie: het jaar waarin de meeste fondsen hun opgebouwde aanspraken omzetten en DNB deze besluiten beoordeelt.
De transitie brengt grote technische uitdagingen met zich mee waar pensioenfondsen nog volop mee bezig zijn. Collectieve pensioenvermogens moeten worden omgezet in individueel pensioenkapitaal, terwijl fondsen moeten aantonen dat deze omzetting evenwichtig is voor alle generaties. Tegelijkertijd moeten zij groepen compenseren die nadeel ondervinden van het afschaffen van de doorsneesystematiek, en bepalen hoe de solidariteitsreserve wordt ingericht.
Het congres brengt de mensen samen die aan deze uitdagingen werken: academici, toezichthouders, pensioenfondsen en adviseurs. We behandelen het volledige spectrum aan onderwerpen, van risicobereidheid en lifecycle‑beleggen tot data, haalbaarheid en deelnemerscommunicatie. Voor studenten is het een unieke kans om te zien hoe hun toekomstige vakgebied bijdraagt aan de pensioenen van miljoenen mensen.
