The VSAE is the study association for all Actuarial Science, Econometrics and Business Analytics students at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
The VSAE has grown into a professional association with many study-related activities and projects. Through the great diversity of majors within the quantitative economic department at the UvA, the VSAE is the most diverse study association for Econometrics and offers the widest range of projects. The association is also active in publishing articles, organising conferences, career events, study trips, personal development possibilities, and tutoring.
On the website of the VSAE you can find additional information on the five pillars that make up our association: Study, Career, Analytics Academy, Social & Mental Health.
Since it is a study association, the VSAE aims to assist its members in their study progress. One of these is the classical tutoring of our first-year students. Besides this, the VSAE facilitates a platform where people can offer to give individual tutoring or request it. Besides tutoring, the VSAE facilitates the sale of all the necessary books in cooperation with their partner Smartbooks.
The VSAE organises multiple career events during the year. During these events, students can orient themselves broadly, have personal conversations with recruiters, participate in workshops, and much more. In addition to this, the VSAE runs her own career page, www.careers4quants.com, specifically tailored for students with a quantitative background.
To make sure our members are optimally prepared for life after the university, we have initiated the Analytics Academy. The analysts participating in this Academy will receive professional training from some of the largest firms in the world. The training is meant to assist students in applying their academic knowledge in a practical context.
But what might be the best part for many students is our social events, where there is ample opportunity to get to know fellow students. We organise monthly (free) drinks and events as well as multiple trips within and outside of the Netherlands.
We also care a lot about the mental health of our students, and we strive to be there for them in times of need. Members can find references on our website to refer them to certain entities or specialists, or they can talk about their struggles in a chat with the Coffee Committee.

De VSAE is de studievereniging voor alle studenten Econometrie, Actuariaat en Business Analytics aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA).
De VSAE is uitgegroeid tot een professionele studievereniging met een breed scala aan studiegerelateerde activiteiten en projecten. Mede dankzij de grote diversiteit aan studierichtingen binnen de kwantitatief economische opleidingen aan de UvA is de VSAE dé studievereniging Econometrie met het meest diverse aanbod van projecten! De vereniging is onder andere actief op het gebied van publicaties, congressen, carrière-evenementen, studiereizen, persoonlijke ontwikkeling en studiebegeleiding en is continu bezig met de ontwikkeling en het verbeteren van haar projecten en activiteiten.
Op de website van de VSAE vind je meer informatie over de vijf pijlers waarop onze vereniging is gebouwd: Studie, Carrière, Analytics Academy,Sociaal & Mentale Gezondheid.
Op studiegebied ondersteunt de VSAE haar leden op verschillende manieren waarvan een het bieden van klassikale bijles is. Ook is er voor VSAE-leden een platform waarop zij individuele bijles kunnen aanbieden en vragen. Voor het studeren zijn er natuurlijk boeken nodig, hierom kunnen studenten bij de VSAE de goedkoopste boeken kopen - zowel nieuw als tweedehands. Dit betekent dat VSAE-leden via ons tweedehands boekverkoop platform zelf hun oude studieboeken kunnen aanbieden. Wanneer het studeren niet verloopt zoals het hoort te gaan door bijvoorbeeld problemen met het curriculum kan er met ons contact opgenomen worden. Wij zullen dit dan doorgeven aan de opleidingscommissie.
De VSAE organiseert meerdere carrière gerelateerde evenementen gedurende het jaar. Op deze evenementen kunnen studenten zich oriënteren, persoonlijke gesprekken aangaan met bedrijven en deelnemen aan caserondes. Ook heeft de VSAE haar eigen carrièreplatform, www.careers4quants.com, waarop kwantitatieve studenten een stage, baan of werkstudentschap kunnen vinden.
Om te zorgen dat onze leden het vermogen hebben om zichzelf te ontwikkelen in alle relevante richtingen, hebben wij onze eigen Analytics Academy opgezet. Deze academy is gericht op het geven van trainingen aan onze leden, welke in samenwerking met prestigieuze bedrijven wordt gedaan, zodat de overgang van student naar professional vergemakkelijkt wordt en onze studenten goed voorbereid de arbeidsmarkt op gaan. Hiernaast kunnen onze studenten ook deelnemen aan een zogenoemde analisten pool. Deze studenten zullen extra trainingen genieten om de kennis die zij op de studie hebben opgedaan te gebruiken in een real-world setting door onderzoek te verrichten voor NGO's en culturele instellingen in Amsterdam.
Op sociaal gebied is de VSAE zeer actief. Naast onze maandelijkse borrel zijn er gedurende het hele collegejaar verschillende ontspannende activiteiten en reisjes waaraan onze leden kunnen deelnemen.
Ook zijn we als vereniging bezig met mentale gezondheid, zodat we er voor onze leden kunnen zijn als ze ergens mee zitten of het moeilijk hebben. Leden kunnen op onze website informatie vinden over instanties die helpen met mentale gezondheid, of ze kunnen hun hart luchten in een gesprewk met de koffie commissie.
